371 first-year students from five campuses of a Philippine state university in 2022–2023 completed a questionnaire profiling perceived challenges in the Mathematics in the Modern World course. The dataset includes student survey responses across four domains—course content, instructional delivery, teaching strategies, and assessment methods—and their associated midterm and final grades. Author Imelda M. Flores published the data on figshare in 2026 under a CC-BY-4.0 license.
