Description
1999–2023 age-adjusted mortality data for operationally defined advanced cardiovascular–kidney–metabolic (CKM) syndrome stages 4 and 4b, derived from U.S. death certificate records. The dataset, created by Kaide Xia and shared under CC-BY-4.0, includes national trends, state- and county-level rates for 2023, and metrics like Stage 4b share within Stage 4. It shows an overall decline in mortality reversed to an increase after 2013 for stage 4 and after 2015 for stage 4b.
Use Cases
Analyzing national and subnational mortality trends based on annual age-adjusted mortality rates (AAMRs) from 1999 to 2023.
Mapping geographic inequities and clustering of mortality burden based on state- and county-level rates for 2023.
Investigating the relationship between cardiovascular disease and kidney failure based on the operational definitions of CKM stages 4 and 4b.
Assessing the effectiveness of public health interventions over time based on estimated annual percent change (APC) metrics.
Strengths
Covers a 25-year time series from 1999 to 2023, enabling long-term trend analysis.
Includes subnational geographic detail with state- and county-level data for 2023.
Provides specific mortality rates, such as stage 4 declining from 505.54 to 353.30 per 100,000 and stage 4b from 45.95 to 33.98 per 100,000.
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The 37.6 KB file size suggests a limited, likely aggregated dataset rather than individual record-level data.
