Description
A systematic review and meta-analysis of 52 randomized controlled studies published from 2017 to 2025, involving 3,312 participants in China's Standardized Residency Training program. The study, authored by Dongjun Dai and shared on figshare, compares the effectiveness of mind mapping versus lecture-based learning on examination scores and learner satisfaction. The analysis found mind mapping was associated with higher scores in theoretical knowledge, case analysis, and procedural skills.
Use Cases
Comparing pedagogical intervention effectiveness based on examination score outcomes.
Analyzing learner satisfaction and self-reported skill improvements based on survey results.
Assessing methodological quality and evidence certainty in medical education research based on GRADE and heterogeneity metrics.
Strengths
Includes data from 52 randomized controlled studies, a substantial number for a meta-analysis.
Reports specific effect sizes (Standardized Mean Differences) for three outcome categories: theoretical knowledge (SMD=1.45), case analysis (SMD=1.34), and procedural skill (SMD=1.68).
Explicitly documents the review protocol registration (PROSPERO CRD420251244861).
Limitations
The dataset is a 19.7 KB DOCX file containing a research article, not raw underlying data or a structured dataset.
The description notes high heterogeneity (I² > 80%) in 11 out of 12 meta-analyses and a 'very low' overall certainty of evidence according to GRADE assessment.
