Description
Grenada, West Indies, is the location for this 2018 study of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) in dogs. The dataset includes results from oral, perianal, and skin swabs from 85 dogs, plus environmental samples, with antimicrobial susceptibility testing and genotyping. It was authored by Josephine A. Afema and documents the first detection of MRSP in Grenadian dogs.
Use Cases
Modeling risk factors for MRSP infection based on reported antimicrobial use
Analyzing genotype patterns to trace transmission between foreign-born and Grenadian-born dogs
Monitoring trends in antimicrobial resistance by comparing results to a prior 2014 study
Assessing environmental contamination risks based on MRSP detection on clinic surfaces
Strengths
Includes data from 85 dogs and environmental samples, providing a multi-source view
Contains results from multiple test types: PCR, MALDI-TOF, disc diffusion assays, and genotyping
Links microbiological data with questionnaire-derived risk factor information
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
The dataset is small (148.2 KB), indicating a limited scope of observations
