Description
High-frequency sensor data from Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE) field trials conducted in Halifax Harbour, Canada, in 2023 and 2024. The dataset includes measurements of total alkalinity, pCO₂, pH, salinity, temperature, and turbidity collected near an alkaline feedstock outfall. Alireza Zabihihesari published the data in 2026.
Use Cases
Monitoring carbon system variability based on high-frequency total alkalinity and pCO₂ measurements.
Evaluating the impact of alkaline feedstock dosing based on concurrent sensor readings.
Calibrating or validating autonomous Lab-on-a-Chip (LoC) total alkalinity analyzers based on field trial data.
Analyzing environmental co-variables like salinity and turbidity during OAE operations.
Strengths
Data originates from a real-world field trial conducted in Halifax Harbour, Canada.
Includes high-frequency measurements from an integrated sensor package deployed near an active outfall.
Multiple concurrent variables are measured, including total alkalinity, pCO₂, pH, salinity, temperature, and turbidity.
Published with a DOI and associated peer-reviewed article in Communications Engineering (2026).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect geographic and temporal bias inherent to a single harbor location and specific trial periods.
