Large Urban Regions (LURs) in Russia are constructed by aggregating municipal districts around core cities based on economic and social interdependence. The delineation uses criteria like population distribution, road networks, and distance from a core to create comparable statistical units for national and global urban studies. Mikhail Rogov from the University of Lausanne created this database, which includes population data for each LUR and its administrative units.
