Ad hoc cultural heritage issues were produced for reporting under the European Flood Directive. The dataset contributes to flood risk management plans by homogenizing knowledge of flood exposure. It is used to produce flood surface and risk maps for three probability levels (high, medium, low).
Use Cases
- Generate flood hazard maps based on the described flood surface mapping process.
- Assess vulnerability of cultural heritage sites based on the three levels of flooding probability.
- Support flood risk management plan (PGRIs) development based on the homogenized knowledge of flood exposure.
- Quantify flood impacts on cultural heritage for regulatory reporting under Directive 2007/60/EC.
Strengths
- Dataset is tied to a specific regulatory framework (European Directive 2007/60/EC).
- Designed to produce maps for three distinct flood probability levels.
- Created by a geological and mining research bureau (BRGM).
Limitations
- Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
- Last updated 2019-03-29 00:00:00; freshness should be verified.
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
