Approximately 47,000 declassified reconnaissance images were acquired by the KH-7 (1963-1967) and KH-9 (1973-1980) satellite programs. The collection includes black-and-white and color photographs with ground resolutions ranging from 2-4 feet for KH-7 to 20-30 feet for KH-9, originally used for cartography and military intelligence. These images provide a historical record of the Earth's surface, declassified in 2002 and maintained by NARA and the USGS EROS Center.
