Description
Transcriptome profiling in isolated left ventricular murine cardiomyocytes to 90 cGy, 1 GeV proton (1H) and 15 cGy, 1 GeV/nucleon (n) iron (56Fe) particles 1, 3, 7, 14 and 28 days after exposure. The dataset, from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, was last updated in March 2026. Unsupervised clustering analysis segregated samples by radiation response and time, with iron radiation showing the greatest gene modulation.
Use Cases
Identify long-lasting molecular markers for space radiation risk assessment based on gene expression profiles up to 28 days post-exposure.
Analyze regulatory gene networks for cell cycle, oxidative responses, and transcriptional regulation based on differential expression analysis.
Validate signal transduction mechanisms like p38 MAPK and NFATc4 activation based on protein analysis data.
Infer activity of specific transcription factors (GATA-4, STAT-3, NF-kB) at defined time points based on electrophoresis mobility shift assays.
Strengths
Includes data from five specific time points (1, 3, 7, 14, and 28 days) after radiation exposure.
Compares responses to two distinct particle types (proton and iron) at defined doses (90 cGy and 15 cGy).
Analysis extends to protein validation and transcription factor activity inference, suggesting multi-modal data.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data is from a specific experimental model (murine cardiomyocytes), limiting direct human applicability.
