Description
A December 2024 bathymetry survey of Mudjimba Island and its surroundings, acquired for the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI). The dataset is a 0.5-meter resolution, 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF image in the GDA2020 coordinate system, processed from data collected using a Reson Seabat T50P. It was published by Geoscience Australia Data.
Use Cases
Characterizing the benthic environment based on the survey's stated purpose.
Identifying substrate features and flat areas suitable for mooring block placement as mentioned in the description.
Analyzing seafloor topography and backscatter data collected over the 1.5km x 1.5km survey area.
Strengths
High-resolution 0.5m grid for detailed seafloor analysis.
Includes backscatter data, which can provide information on seafloor composition.
Data is georeferenced to the GDA2020 coordinate system.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
