Fourteen cuttings samples from the Kinmore 1 well in the Petrel Sub-basin were analyzed via X-ray diffraction by Sietronics Pty Ltd under contract to Geoscience Australia. The analysis aimed to determine the mineral composition of a Silurian-Devonian massive salt diapir to assess its suitability for underground hydrogen storage. The prospective storage site covers approximately 45 km2 offshore Northern Territory.
