GO-SHIP Repeat Hydrography Section P03W includes discrete bottle profile measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon, total alkalinity, pH, chlorofluorocarbons, temperature, salinity, oxygen, and nutrients. The data were collected during R/V Ryofu Maru cruises RF13-06 and RF13-07 from June to September 2013. The observation line along approximately 24°N is part of the WOCE Hydrographic Programme, CLIVAR, and GO-SHIP.
Use Cases
- Model ocean carbon uptake and acidification based on dissolved inorganic carbon and alkalinity measurements.
- Study historical chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) distribution and ocean ventilation based on CFC-11 and CFC-12 data.
- Analyze water column properties and biogeochemical cycles based on concurrent temperature, salinity, oxygen, and nutrient profiles.
Strengths
- Data collection is part of established international programs: WOCE, CLIVAR, and GO-SHIP.
- Cruises cover a specific time range from 2013-06-19 to 2013-09-18.
- Observation line along approximately 24°N has historical precedent from SIO in 1985 and JAMSTEC in 2005–2006.
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
- Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to the specific cruise track.
