Discrete profile measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon, alkalinity, chlorofluorocarbons, and other oceanographic variables collected during the R/V Mirai cruise GO-SHIP_P01 in the North Pacific Ocean from July to August 2014. The data was collected under the Global Ocean Ship-based Hydrographic Investigations Program (GO-SHIP). The WHP-P01 section has historical observations from 1985, 1999, and 2007.
Use Cases
- Modeling ocean carbon uptake and acidification based on dissolved inorganic carbon and pH measurements.
- Tracking anthropogenic tracer distribution based on chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) data.
- Analyzing ocean biogeochemistry based on nutrient and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) profiles.
- Studying water mass properties and circulation based on temperature, salinity, and oxygen measurements.
Strengths
- Includes multiple key oceanographic variables for carbon cycle and tracer studies.
- Provides data for a historically repeated transect (WHP-P01) with observations from 1985, 1999, and 2007.
- Data collection is part of the standardized Global Ocean Ship-based Hydrographic Investigations Program (GO-SHIP).
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
- Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to a single cruise track in the North Pacific Ocean.
