The CLIVAR_OISO06 dataset contains discrete profile measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon, total alkalinity, temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and nutrients collected during the R/V Marion Dufresne cruise OISO-06 in the Indian Ocean from January 3 to January 26, 2001. Claire Lo Monaco and Nicolas Metzl of Sorbonne University collected these data as part of the International CLIVAR Global Ocean Carbon and Repeat Hydrography Program.
Use Cases
- Quantifying changes in ocean carbon dioxide storage based on dissolved inorganic carbon and total alkalinity measurements
- Analyzing ocean heat and freshwater transport based on temperature and salinity profiles
- Studying nutrient distributions and their relationship with dissolved oxygen levels in the Indian Ocean
Strengths
- Data collected during a dedicated scientific cruise (OISO-06) from January 3 to January 26, 2001
- Part of the systematic global re-occupation effort by the CLIVAR program
- Includes multiple key oceanographic variables (DIC, alkalinity, temperature, salinity, oxygen, nutrients)
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
