North Atlantic Ocean and South Atlantic Ocean chemical and physical data collected during cruise CARINA/35TH19990712 from July to September 1999. The dataset includes alkalinity, dissolved inorganic carbon, pH, and chlorofluorocarbon-11 measurements. It was collected by Catherine Goyet of University of Perpignan via Domitia and Y. Gouriou as part of the CARINA synthesis project.
Use Cases
- Modeling ocean carbon uptake based on dissolved inorganic carbon and alkalinity measurements
- Analyzing chlorofluorocarbon-11 distribution for ocean tracer studies
- Studying nutrient cycles based on nitrate, phosphate, and silicate data
- Investigating ocean acidification trends based on pH and carbonate system variables
Strengths
- Data collected over a specific cruise from July 12 to September 22, 1999
- Includes multiple key variables for carbon system analysis: alkalinity, dissolved inorganic carbon, pH, and chlorofluorocarbon-11
- Part of the international CARINA synthesis project for internal consistency
Limitations
- Last updated 1999-09-22 00:00:00; freshness should be verified
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
