North Pacific Ocean, Philippine Sea, and South Pacific Ocean data collected from the KEIFU MARU between June 16 and August 13, 2004. The dataset includes discrete measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon, alkalinity, pH, nutrients, chlorophyll, and other physical parameters. These data were collected by Naoyuki Ishikawa and Masao Ishii as part of the PACIFICA project for synthesizing Pacific Ocean interior carbon data.
Use Cases
- Modeling ocean acidification based on pH and dissolved inorganic carbon measurements
- Analyzing nutrient cycling based on nitrate, phosphate, and silicate concentrations
- Studying phytoplankton biomass based on chlorophyll a and phaeopigment data
- Investigating water column structure based on CTD-derived temperature, salinity, and pressure profiles
- Tracking anthropogenic tracers based on chlorofluorocarbon (CFC-11 and CFC-12) measurements
Strengths
- Data covers a specific cruise from June 16 to August 13, 2004
- Includes over 20 distinct chemical, biological, and physical parameters
- Part of an international collaborative project (PACIFICA) supported by PICES
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
- Data may reflect temporal bias inherent to a single cruise in 2004
