Description
Discrete sample and profile data collected during cruise 06ARKIX_4 in the Arctic Ocean, Kara Sea, and Laptev Sea from August to October 1993. The data include dissolved inorganic carbon, chlorofluorocarbons, nutrients, oxygen isotopes, temperature, and salinity. It was collected by researchers from Gothenburg University and others as part of the CARINA data synthesis project for biogeochemical investigations.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean carbon uptake and storage based on dissolved inorganic carbon measurements.
Analyzing historical chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) distributions as ocean circulation tracers.
Studying nutrient dynamics (nitrate, phosphate, silicate) in Arctic shelf seas.
Investigating water mass properties and mixing using potential temperature and salinity profiles.
Strengths
Data covers a specific Arctic research cruise over a two-month period in 1993.
Includes multiple biogeochemical variables relevant for carbon cycle studies.
Part of the international CARINA project, which aimed to produce an internally consistent merged data set.
