Description
North Atlantic Ocean data includes dissolved inorganic carbon, dissolved oxygen, nitrate, phosphate, salinity, and water temperature. Measurements were collected using CTD and bottle instruments during the CARINA/64TR19900714 cruise from July 14 to July 29, 1990. The data were collected by researchers from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization.
Use Cases
Analyze relationships between dissolved inorganic carbon and salinity across hydrostatic pressure levels.
Model nitrate and phosphate concentrations as functions of water temperature and potential temperature.
Study dissolved oxygen variability alongside silicate and tritium measurements for biogeochemical investigations.
Strengths
Includes 11 specific chemical and physical variables, such as dissolved inorganic carbon and nitrate.
Data collected during a dedicated 16-day research cruise in the North Atlantic Ocean.
Part of the international CARINA synthesis project for internally consistent biogeochemical data.
Limitations
Sample size is unknown and likely limited to a single cruise's observations.
Data is from 1990 and may not reflect current ocean conditions.
Geographic coverage is restricted to the cruise track in the North Atlantic Ocean.
