EDSTATS provides adjusted primary reading test scores standardized across time and different international and regional assessments. The dataset enables comparison of primary reading performance across countries from 1965 to 2010, using a harmonization method developed by Education Statistics. Scores are approximated to five-year intervals and adjusted via ratios derived from U.S. performance on tests like PISA, TIMSS, and NAEP.
The core data feature is an adjusted score; understanding the specific transformation ratios and the list of source assessments is critical for accurate interpretation.
