Description
EDS-lab's Electricity Demand dataset compiles and harmonizes multiple open smart meter datasets. Curated by Attila Balint, it was last updated on June 20, 2024. The dataset is structured across three main Parquet files for demand, metadata, and weather data.
Use Cases
Forecast electricity demand based on smart meter consumption data.
Correlate energy usage patterns with weather conditions using the provided weather data.
Analyze aggregated consumption trends across different households or regions suggested by the metadata.
Strengths
Harmonizes multiple open smart meter datasets into a unified format.
Includes auxiliary weather data, which is a key feature for demand forecasting models.
Dataset structure is clearly defined with three distinct files for demand, metadata, and weather.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and dataset scale are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
