Description
A Level 1 data product from the Electron Losses and Fields Investigation (ELFIN) mission, a NASA space weather CubeSat. The probe state file contains time-series measurements of the satellite's position, velocity, spin attitude, spin rate, and spin phase. Data is provided at a 1-second resolution and was last updated on March 13, 2026.
Use Cases
Modeling orbital trajectories based on the provided position and velocity data.
Analyzing satellite spin dynamics and stability using the spin rate and spin phase data.
Calibrating scientific instrument readings by correlating them with the satellite's precise attitude.
Validating space weather models using data from a dedicated mission platform.
Strengths
Data originates from the authoritative NASA ELFIN space weather mission.
Provides high-temporal-resolution (1-second) state vectors for precise orbital analysis.
Includes multiple state dimensions: position, velocity, attitude, spin rate, and spin phase.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and total dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data is stored in a BIN format, which may require specialized tools for parsing.
