Elizabeth and Middleton Reefs Coral Health Surveys from 2011 to 2024

Elizabeth and Middleton Reefs, the world's southernmost open-ocean platform reefs, were surveyed over six days in February 2024. James Cook University assessed benthic, fish, and invertebrate communities at 14 sites, providing data comparable to previous surveys from 2011, 2014, and 2018. The project focused on endemic and threatened species and explored deeper habitats using remotely operated vehicles and baited video systems.
