Description
Overture Maps provides emergency and essential-health facility data for the Caracas area of Venezuela, captured for response to an M 7.5 earthquake. The dataset includes hospitals, emergency rooms, medical centres, pharmacies, fire, police, and ambulance/EMS services. It was sourced from the Overture Maps places theme and published by the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) on HDX.
Use Cases
Map critical infrastructure for disaster contingency planning based on the listed facility types.
Analyze spatial distribution of emergency services for resource gap identification based on the geographic bounding box.
Integrate facility locations into crisis mapping platforms for real-time response coordination based on the earthquake event context.
Strengths
Data is explicitly georeferenced to a defined bounding box (67.09W-66.65W, 10.28N-10.64N).
Covers multiple critical facility types including hospitals, police, fire, and pharmacies.
Sourced from a consortium of major mapping providers (Meta, Foursquare, Microsoft, AllThePlaces).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect source bias inherent to the Overture Maps aggregation.
