Description
Calibrated clear-filter, C2, CN, OH and dust continuum images of comet C/Garradd (2009 P1) acquired by the Medium Resolution Visible CCD (MRI) instrument. The images were collected by the EPOXI mission from 20 February through 09 April 2012 during its Cruise 3 phase. The dataset is provided by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Use Cases
Analyze comet morphology and surface features based on calibrated clear-filter images
Study the distribution of specific molecules (C2, CN, OH) around the comet based on dedicated filter images
Investigate dust density and structure in the comet's coma based on dust continuum images
Strengths
Images are calibrated, which likely reduces instrumental artifacts
Data covers a specific temporal window from 20 February to 09 April 2012
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
