NASA's Deep Impact spacecraft captured raw narrow-band images of Earth from space during three 24-hour periods in 2008. The High Resolution Visible CCD instrument collected data at wavelengths from 350 to 950 nm, with a unique observation of the Moon transiting Earth in May. These images were acquired to characterize Earth as an analog for extrasolar planets.
