Description
A 150 ks eROSITA/SRG observation from the CalPV phase, ingested by NASA HEASARC in August 2022, produced this catalog of X-ray sources in the 0.2-2.3 keV energy band. It covers a 5x5 degree field around the young open cluster eta Chamaeleontis, with an exposure depth of about 5 ks, and was used to study known members and identify new candidate members. The catalog cross-matches sources with Gaia and 2MASS data, using X-ray activity, color-magnitude diagrams, and kinematic properties for identification.
Use Cases
Identifying new candidate members of the eta Chamaeleontis cluster based on X-ray activity and kinematic properties.
Studying X-ray luminosity and spectral properties of young stars within a known open cluster.
Cross-matching X-ray sources with optical and infrared catalogs (Gaia, 2MASS) for multi-wavelength analysis.
Investigating the spatial distribution and potential 'ejected halo' population of a young stellar cluster.
Strengths
Data originates from the eROSITA/SRG space observatory's CalPV phase, a specific and calibrated observing program.
Observation covers a significant 5x5 degree field with a defined exposure depth of about 5 ks.
Catalog is linked to a related hard-band (2.3-5.0 keV) source catalog for broader energy analysis.
Source identification leverages multi-wavelength data from Gaia and 2MASS.
Limitations
Row count and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale analysis.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics and any HEASARC naming alterations must be inferred after download.
