Description
An evening chorus centered near 2.2 kHz was recorded from seabed receivers in 430–490 m depth overlooking the Perth Canyon, Western Australia, across 15 years from 2000 to 2014. The chorus, likely produced by Myctophidae fishes, reached maximum levels 2.1 hours post-sunset and was loudest from April to August each year. This dataset, provided by Parks Australia, suggests the chorus may act as an acoustic beacon indicating regions of high marine biomass.
