Data from experiments conducted in spring and summer of 2014 and 2015 in outdoor artificial ponds in East Sussex. The dataset was created by the Marine Environmental Data & Information Network to determine the impact of introduced non-native fish species on the diet and trophic position of native pond fishes. The study species were pumpkinseed (Lepomis gibbosus) in 2014 and sunbleak (Leucaspius delineatus) in 2015.
Use Cases
- Modeling trophic interactions based on stable isotope analysis data
- Assessing the ecological impact of non-native fish introductions based on experimental pond data
- Comparing diet shifts in native fish species between different invasive competitors
Strengths
- Experimental data collected over two successive years (2014 and 2015)
- Controlled study design using outdoor artificial ponds
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
