Description
NASA's Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer (FUSE) spacecraft captured high-resolution spectra in the 90.5-118 nm wavelength range. This table contains the mission's observation log from its 1999 launch until May 8, 2007, as archived by the HEASARC. The mission was a collaboration between NASA, the Canadian Space Agency, and the French space agency CNES.
Use Cases
Analyzing observation scheduling and target selection patterns based on the mission log.
Correlating observation data with scientific publications using the included bibliographic codes.
Studying the operational timeline and instrument performance of the FUSE spacecraft.
Identifying targets for follow-up studies in the far-ultraviolet spectrum.
Strengths
High spectral resolution of about 20,000, providing detailed wavelength data.
Observation log spans the mission's operational lifetime from 1999 to 2007.
Data is sourced from authoritative archives including NASA's HEASARC and MAST.
Includes additional metadata like proposal titles and bibliographic codes.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data reflects the temporal bias of the concluded FUSE mission.
