This mixed-method dataset captures the experiences of 175 women of reproductive age using a digital family planning monitoring tool in Kaduna and Lagos, Nigeria. Collected by Ubuane and Osimhen for the Population Council between March and July 2023, the data evaluates quality of care (QoC) at Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors (PPMVs). It combines quantitative tool interaction data with verbatim transcriptions from semi-structured focus group discussions.
Use Cases
- Thematic analysis of user challenges using verbatim FGD transcriptions
- Evaluating quality of care (QoC) metrics within Nigerian primary health care settings
- Assessing the feasibility of digital monitoring tools for reproductive health services
Strengths
- Mixed-method design combining 175 quantitative records with qualitative FGD transcriptions
- Primary source data collected immediately following service delivery
- Focuses on the specific niche of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors (PPMVs) in Nigeria
Limitations
- Small sample size of 175 participants limits statistical power for broader generalizations
- Geographic bias as data is restricted to only two Nigerian states (Kaduna and Lagos)
- Potential for social desirability bias in self-reported quality of care assessments
