A collection of over 100,000 estimated annual cases of nonfatal firearm-related injuries treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments. It was collected via the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) by the CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. The data includes variables such as age, sex, diagnosis, injury intent, and disposition at discharge.
Data is for surveillance and provides national estimates; individual case data is from a sample. The scope includes BB and pellet gun injuries alongside powder-charged firearm injuries.
