Description
22706f2d-2070-425f-b570-d73089359b35 provides monthly field measurements of CO2 efflux and water chemistry from streams, springs, reservoirs, and ponds in the Houzhai karst catchment in Southwest China. Data were collected during campaigns from January 2016 to February 2017 under a NERC-funded project. The dataset includes parameters like water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, DIC concentration, δ13C-DIC isotopic composition, and flow velocity.
Use Cases
Model the relationship between CO2 efflux and water chemistry parameters like pH and dissolved oxygen to understand carbon dynamics in karst systems.
Analyze seasonal trends in δ13C-DIC isotopic composition across different water body types (streams, springs, reservoirs, ponds).
Correlate dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) concentration with electronic conductivity and water temperature measurements.
Estimate carbon contributions from karst landscapes by integrating flux measurements with flow velocity data.
Strengths
Data collected via direct, field-based measurements during monthly campaigns, ensuring ground-truthed observations.
Covers multiple aquatic environments within a single catchment: streams, springs, reservoirs, and ponds.
Includes both physical (flow velocity) and chemical (pH, DIC, δ13C-DIC) parameters for integrated analysis.
Temporal coverage spans over a year, from January 2016 to February 2017, capturing seasonal variation.
Limitations
Sample size and row count are unknown, limiting assessment of statistical power for modeling.
Geographic scope is limited to a single catchment (Houzhai) in Southwest China, reducing generalizability.
Data collection ended in early 2017, making the dataset temporally stale for current climate modeling without updates.
