Description
FLUXNET's Marconi Flux Data Collection contains standardized, gap-filled measurements of carbon dioxide, water vapor, and energy exchange from 38 forest, grassland, and crop sites. The dataset compiles 97 site-years of half-hourly flux and meteorology data, primarily from 1996 to 1998, with some records from 1992-1995 and 1999-2000. It was compiled for the 2000 FLUXNET Synthesis Workshop and formed the basis for a special issue of Agriculture and Forest Meteorology in 2002.
Use Cases
Modeling terrestrial carbon and water cycles using gap-filled half-hourly flux data.
Comparing annual ecosystem carbon budgets across different vegetation types (forest, grassland, crop).
Analyzing seasonal dynamics of energy exchange using standardized eddy covariance measurements.
Synthesizing long-term flux trends from a multi-site, multi-year compilation.
Strengths
Contains data from 38 distinct sites, providing cross-ecosystem comparability.
Includes 97 site-years of data with standardized collection methodology.
