Forest Inventory and Analysis - Eastwide data provides plot measurements for estimating forest conditions across eastern U.S. states. The USDA Forest Service's Southern, Northeastern, and North Central Forest Experiment Stations collected the data using cluster plots of 10 sub-plots per acre. Data collection occurs approximately every 10 years, with the last update recorded in 1990.
Access requires contacting the data center and paying a fee per user per state. Data is distributed on outdated physical media (floppy disks, magnetic tape, CD-ROM). Legal restrictions withhold landowner names and specific plot locations.
