611 food samples collected from Canadian retail stores in 2010-11 were analyzed for perchlorate contamination. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency conducted this targeted survey to establish baseline data, finding detectable perchlorate in 65% of fruits/vegetables, 87% of dairy, and 63% of infant formula. Results were shared with Health Canada for future risk assessments.
