FY3A Daily MULSS Snow Cover level 2 Product provides daily global snow cover classification over land. SCIOPS produces these data as 10x10 degree geographic blocks with a 0.01-degree resolution. Each grid point contains a snowpack/non-snowpack mark and a quality assessment flag.
Use Cases
- Classify land pixels as snowpack or non-snowpack using the binary snow cover mark.
- Assess data reliability for downstream analysis using the quality assessment flag per grid point.
- Analyze spatial snow cover patterns at a 0.01-degree resolution across 10x10 degree global tiles.
- Model daily snow cover extent changes over time by aggregating the classified grid points.
Strengths
- Global spatial coverage over all land areas.
- Provides a quality assessment flag for each data point.
- Offers a consistent 0.01-degree spatial resolution.
Limitations
- Specific row count, temporal coverage, and update recency are unknown.
- Data granularity is limited to a binary snowpack/non-snowpack classification.
- Potential for gaps or quality issues is unquantified without documented sample size or validation.
