26,000 line-kilometres of total magnetic intensity data were acquired in 2008/2009 as part of Australia's Offshore Energy Security Program. This processed line dataset reveals subsurface geological structures by measuring variations in Earth's magnetic field intensity caused by rock-forming minerals. Geoscience Australia geophysicists have quality-checked the data, which supports pre-competitive analysis for resource exploration.
Primary file format is NetCDF. The dataset is described as 'pre-competitive' and intended for public release by a government agency.
