Brightness temperature data at 23GHz is derived from the AMSR2 sensor onboard the JAXA GCOM-W satellite. The Level 3 product provides daily and monthly statistical means, including brightness temperature, standard deviation, and data counts, on a global 0.25-degree grid. The dataset is produced by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency from observations beginning after the satellite's launch in May 2012.
Data is provided in HDF5 format. Missing values are encoded as 65535, and error values range from 65531 to 65534, which must be handled during analysis. Data for ascending and descending satellite tracks are calculated separately.
