Approximately 10,700 yeast deletion strains, including ~4800 homozygous and ~5900 heterozygous strains, were cultured in microgravity and on Earth to quantify genetic requirements for survival. The genome-wide sensitivity profiles were generated by NASA, comparing growth in spaceflight versus ground conditions with and without osmotic stress. Results suggest spaceflight effects share mechanisms with DNA-damaging agents and redox state changes.
