Description
Geoid undulations for Austria range from approximately 42 meters in the northeast to 53 meters in the Ötztal Alps relative to the GRS80 ellipsoid. This dataset, provided by Cooperation OGD Österreich and Wikimedia Österreich, contains geoid and solder deviation data for the Austrian territory in relation to two reference ellipsoids. Solder deviations, describing the direction of the gravity vector, are calculated for the entire country in the MGI reference system.
Use Cases
Calculate precise height transformations based on geoid undulations relative to the GRS80 and Bessel ellipsoids.
Model local gravity fields based on solder deviation components (north/south, east/west).
Perform geodetic adjustments for surveying and mapping projects using the described reference systems (ETRS89, MGI).
Strengths
Provides geoid undulation values for Austria across two different reference ellipsoids (GRS80 and Bessel).
Includes specific value ranges, such as ~42 m to ~53 m for GRS80 and ~-2 m to ~+3.5 m for Bessel.
Covers the entire territory of Austria for solder deviation calculations.
