Geology and Prospectivity of the Northern Houtman Sub-basin, Offshore Western Australia

A 2014–15 seismic reflection survey by Geoscience Australia was used to reassess the tectonic evolution and petroleum prospectivity of the northern Houtman Sub-basin. The study includes a 3D geological model and mapping of sequences up to 16 km thick, significantly reducing exploration risk. The data covers an under-explored frontier region of the offshore Perth Basin.
