Description
Investigations conducted by the Government of Yukon assess permafrost degradation affecting critical buildings. Geophysical surveys and borehole drilling reveal warm, ice-rich permafrost beneath Dawson's Palace Grand Theatre, unfrozen sediment under the Old Territorial Administration building, and a deep thawing active layer at Ross River School. The dataset includes findings from DC resistivity, ground penetrating radar, and borehole data.
Use Cases
Model infrastructure vulnerability based on geophysical survey results
Map permafrost variability based on borehole and active layer observations
Analyze thaw contributions from building drainage systems based on survey indications
Assess structural risk for specific buildings based on subsurface condition descriptions
Strengths
Focus on specific critical buildings (Palace Grand Theatre, Old Territorial Administration building, St. Andrew's Church, Ross River School)
