Description
Gridded data from 2016 estimates the proportion of North Sea grid cells occupied by shipwreck structures. Data were produced at three spatial resolutions: 0.1, 0.25, and 0.5 decimal degrees. This dataset was derived as model input for Cefas projects COSM and EcoConnect under the INSITE programme.
Use Cases
Modeling the ecological footprint of artificial structures based on gridded wreck density.
Analyzing spatial patterns of submerged cultural heritage in the North Sea based on the georeferenced grid.
Assessing habitat alteration from man-made structures based on the estimated cell occupancy values.
Strengths
Data provides three spatial resolutions (0.1, 0.25, and 0.5 decimal degrees) for analysis flexibility.
Values represent estimated proportion of grid cell occupied, offering a quantitative measure.
Dataset was created for specific scientific projects (COSM and EcoConnect) under the INSITE programme.
