Data from May 2012 onward provides near-real-time subskin sea surface temperature measurements derived from the AMSR2 instrument on the GCOM-W satellite. The product is generated by Remote Sensing Systems for the GHRSST Project, with data typically available within 3 hours of observation. The conical scanning mechanism achieves over 99% Earth coverage every 2 days.
File names contain '_rt_' to identify the near-real-time product. This version 8.2 supersedes the previous v8a dataset.
