Description
The North Galactic Cap region, specifically Kepler K2 mission Field 1, is covered by this radio continuum survey. It contains source catalogs with 1,085, 1,468, and 7,445 detections from Murchison Widefield Array and Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope observations between 140-200 MHz, conducted contemporaneously with K2 in 2014 and historically from 2010-2012. The dataset was aggregated by NASA from the referenced astronomical survey.
Use Cases
Cross-matching radio sources with optical Kepler K2 targets based on the survey's contemporaneous observations.
Analyzing radio source structures across angular scales based on the multi-resolution (4 arcmin to 20 arcsec) imaging strategy.
Investigating low-frequency radio emission from dwarf stars (M and L types) known to produce flares, as referenced in the study.
Studying the prevalence of radio transients or variables in a low-frequency, wide-field survey, consistent with the reported non-detection.
Strengths
Covers 314 square degrees of the North Galactic Cap, providing a wide-field context.
Integrates multi-epoch MWA observations from 2014 with higher-resolution GMRT data from 2010-2012 for structural analysis.
Provides three distinct source catalogs totaling over 10,000 detections across two frequency bands.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The GMRT observations are not contemporaneous with the K2 mission, which may affect temporal correlation studies.
Provenance
Source
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), aggregating data from the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) and Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) surveys.
