Description
1970-2024 data covering approximately 25,000 global aviation incidents. The dataset includes information on 200 airlines and 79 aircraft types, and is calibrated to ICAO standards with categories for Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT) and Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I). It was sourced from Kaggle, but the original author, organization, and license are unknown.
Use Cases
Analyzing long-term trends in aviation safety based on the 54-year time range
Comparing incident rates across different airlines based on the 200 airline entities
Assessing risk factors associated with specific aircraft types based on the 79 listed types
Investigating specific accident categories like Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT)
Modeling precursors to Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I) events
Strengths
Covers a long temporal span of 54 years (1970-2024)
Includes a substantial number of incidents (approximately 25,000)
Calibrated to ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standards
Contains specific high-risk incident categories (CFIT, LOC-I)
Limitations
