Description
Galileo spacecraft trajectory data in moon-centered coordinates for encounters with Amalthea, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. Ephemeris data are provided every two seconds for approximately one hour about closest approach. The dataset is provided by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and was last updated in March 2026.
Use Cases
Modeling spacecraft orbital dynamics based on two-second ephemeris intervals
Analyzing gravitational perturbations during close moon encounters based on moon-centered coordinates
Visualizing flight paths for mission planning or education based on the provided trajectory data
Strengths
Data provided at a high temporal resolution of every two seconds
Covers encounters with five major Jovian moons: Amalthea, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto
Originates from the authoritative source National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Provenance
Source
National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Collection Method
Likely contains processed spacecraft telemetry and orbital calculations.
Time Range
Covers approximately one-hour windows around closest approach for multiple encounters.
Freshness
Last updated 2026-03-13 05:22:37.237715; freshness should be verified
Geography
Trajectory data centered on Jupiter's moons Amalthea, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto.
