Description
NASA's Galileo spacecraft collected wideband electric waveform measurements during its Jupiter orbital operations. The data were obtained during selected observation periods near perijove, satellite encounters, and other times. Measurements were sampled at rates of 201,600/s, 25,200/s, or 3,150/s through bandpass filters of 80, 10, or 1 kHz, respectively.
Use Cases
Analyzing plasma wave spectra and dynamics based on wideband waveform measurements.
Studying Jupiter's magnetospheric interactions with its moons based on data from satellite encounters.
Characterizing electric field fluctuations near perijove based on high-sample-rate recordings.
Developing signal processing algorithms for spaceborne plasma wave instruments based on the described sample rates and filters.
Strengths
Data originates from the Galileo spacecraft, a primary NASA mission to Jupiter.
Waveform measurements are described with specific sample rates (201,600/s, 25,200/s, 3,150/s) and corresponding filter bandwidths.
Observations are targeted at scientifically significant events like perijove and satellite encounters.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
