GPM_3GCSH_TRMM: Gridded Orbital Convective-Stratiform Latent Heating Profiles

NASA's GPM-formatted TRMM product provides gridded orbital data for estimating vertical profiles of latent heating released by tropical precipitating cloud systems. The algorithm uses TRMM Precipitation Radar (PR) information on precipitation-top height, surface rates, melting level rates, and rain type to select heating profiles from lookup tables derived from TOGA COARE cloud-resolving model simulations. This Version 07 dataset supersedes the legacy TRMM_3G31 product and is gridded globally at a 0.25x0.25 degree resolution with a temporal granule of one orbit.
