Description
AGSO produced digital grids for bathymetry, gravity, and magnetic fields across a large quadrant of southwest Australia. The dataset integrates land, marine, and satellite data, with bathymetric input from the Australian Hydrographic Office. Results were obtained by performing a network adjustment on marine ship-track data.
Use Cases
Modeling tectonic plate structures based on gravity and magnetic anomaly grids.
Mapping seafloor topography for marine navigation and habitat studies based on bathymetry data.
Integrating multi-source geophysical data for regional geological surveys.
Calibrating satellite-derived gravity measurements with ship-track survey data.
Strengths
Data integrates three distinct geophysical measurement types: bathymetry, gravity, and magnetics.
Combines data from multiple sources: land surveys, marine ship-tracks, and satellites.
Covers a large geographic area defined as 24-46S, 106-140E.
Produced by the Australian Geological Survey Organisation (AGSO) in cooperation with industry and government partners.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect geographic and source bias inherent to the specific survey methods and region.
Provenance
Source
Australian Geological Survey Organisation (AGSO), Desmond Fitzgerald & Associates, Australian Hydrographic Office.
Collection Method
Network adjustment performed on marine ship-track data, combined with onshore and satellite-derived data.

Geography
Southwest quadrant of Australia (24 - 46S, 106-140E), including the Great Australian Bight.
File formats are HTML and ZIP; the ZIP likely contains the actual data grids.
